Poultry company Faccenda Group has announced plans to invest £30 million in its factory at its site in the Hortonwood Industrial Estate in Telford.
Work on the 9,290 square metre facility has been confirmed by Telford City Council to take place later this month.
Faccenda has said that it expects the new factory to be completed within a year and be fully operational by January 2015.
The existing site at Telford, which is situated adjacent to the site of the new development will remain functional during this time, although it is unclear as to what would happen afterwards.
The project follows on the from the firm's purchase of the turkey company, Cranberry Foods, last year.
Managing director of Faccenda Andy Dawkins said: "This is another major phase in delivering our strategy for growth – signalling a step change in our capability to satisfy our customers’ requirements for innovative fresh and convenience food solutions."
He added that the development would create the space needed for rapid growth in the future, and would also encourage investment within the local area.
Operations director Phil Davidson added that the company had been working closely with the local council and that it was delighted to have secured the plans, which he said would attract a talented local workforce, which will add to the 2,000 members of staff that are currently employed by the firm around the country.
The plans have been warmly welcomed by Telford and Wrekin Council.
Councillor Charles Smith, cabinet member for housing, development and borough towns said: "We are a business winning and business supporting council and have recently launched our Invest In Telford programme to encourage companies to relocate here.
"We have been working very closely with Faccenda to enable them to develop their Hortonwood site and I am delighted that they are now able to make this announcement."
The annual turnover of the Faccenda Group is estimated to be around £400 million.
